Corning Public Library Teen Board
The Corning Public Library has about 14 Teen Board members. Every year 2 or 3 new members are elected from the new 7th grade class. Teen board members must be excellent academic students and avid library users. Teen board members remain active throughout their high school years.
The Corning Public Library Teen Board is a very active board. We do a Corning community project each year. We have planted trees for a needy organization, entertained the residents at our Corning nursing home, provided a program about date rape and sexual harassment, worked the blood mobile, and many others. We want to be a good community example.
We buy items for the Corning High School library and for our own library. We have purchased movies on VHS and DVD. We have also purchased board puzzles, magazines, and mostly importantly books. We help keep our library modern by purchasing floor mats (outside ground mat, too), helped purchase card catalog computer stand, and out door trash can.
Our goal is to encourage all children and teens to use and enjoy our town library; to make the library a very pleasant, educational, and useful place.
2013-2014 Teen Board Members
Kelsey Holbrook, Brice Newton, Kaitlyn Richey, Bellamy Heaton, Kendra Wilkinson, Andy Seals, Ashley Boswell, Danica Drake, Katie Hoerman, and Trevor Holbrook.
- Preschool Story Time! Join Gayle at the library for thirty minutes of story time! It's from 10:30-11:00 AM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays during the months of October and November. Children 3 to 5 years old are welcome as are their parents or guardians.
- 4th and 5th Graders are invited to join Gayle after school during the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays during October and November for a craft day! Kids will be making crafts and having snacks. There is no story time since they can read for themselves, but there will be prizes for the kids that do read during that time! The program starts at 3:45 PM and will last for about an hour!
